Why are the Friends of the Fishkill Supply Depot, backed by secret donors, meddling with an important opportunity to honor our heritage and tell the story of the nation’s founding? Although they don't have any historical or archaeological expertise these critics use scare tactics and biased evidence to make false claims against Continental Commons. Their funders are often anonymous and do not represent the voices of local concerned citizens. They cannot and should not be looked to as independent experts on the community’s historic preservation needs. Their ideological driven campaign ignores essential well documented facts and misrepresents archaeological studies. As a result they deny the community an important opportunity to honor our heritage and tell the story of the nation’s founding.
Fishkill Supply Depot group targets vulnerable veterans

The Friends of the Fishkill Supply Depot is targeting veterans they perceive as vulnerable to patriotic causes, and bilking them to pay the group's legal fees.
These veterans may not know that last December, the Supreme Court of the State of New York ruled against the Friends of the Fishkill's lawsuit to block Continental Commons. In the court's decision it concluded that credible archaeological reports disproved the Friends of the Fishkill Supply Depot's false claims that Continental Commons contained:
1) A cemetery for Revolutionary War Soldiers
2) It was the "Largest American Revolutionary War Cemetery"
3) Building Continental Commons would destroy the Fishkill Supply Depot.

In reality the Continental Commons plan embraces and honors the historic nature of its surroundings. The property owner has and will continue to honor the site and educate the public about the history of the Fishkill Supply Depot by preserving a small burial area, creating a living museum, visitor center, replica barrack and historic walkway with artifacts and informative plaques marking the journey. It commemorates the sacrifices of the Patriots who served in the Continental Army in Fishkill during the American Revolution and will beautify the gateway to historic Fishkill and Dutchess County.
